Now heres some good news from eBay for a change bless em, and don’t I just sometimes! On the eBay UK site and Ireland site Gallery frees are being abolished I quote
“We’re happy to confirm that we’re removing the fee for the Gallery listing upgrade (was 15p on eBay.co.uk and 20c on eBay.ie). This makes permanent the promotion that was due to end on 30th September 2008″
The reason that this is good news for sellers is that unsuccessful listings won’t be such a burden financially! It might not sound a lot but 15p adds up to quite a chunk if you list a lot of items.
Sellers sometimes penny pinched and tried to save money by not electing to pay the extra to list the picture in the gallery. That is a huge mistake listings with pictures that appear on the search returns will always outsell those that don’t have a picture.
This fact is proved by eBays actions as they will have found that they make more money from listings with a gallery image.
In reality what is happening here is that eBay are moving more towards the Amazon free listing approach! Of course they can’t be seen to do that quickly but bit by bit is fine with me.
To offset some of this we will have a FVF (final value fee) percentage basic price increase to 9.9% at it’s highest! I will do some number crunching on that one and come back to you!
“Success-based fees
Overall, we are continuing our commitment to moving the cost of selling an item on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie away from the front-end insertion fee and increasing the final value fees, so that the majority of fees are paid only when you successfully sell an item.”

Here are the current Ebay prices
At the moment I am not seeing any new fee changing on the ebay.com site Gallery is already FREE there!
I will do a follow up post to this as I see some quite big changes that warrant further investigation!
