Highly Recommended- A few years ago I bought some voice recognition software and to be perfectly frank it was absolutely rubbish. I ended up selling it on eBay if memory serves correctly! Just recently however I’ve had quite a lot of writing projects on the go so decided to try some of the more up-to-date software. I did a bit of research and found that Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 seems to be one of the most popular products around. I bought the bog standard edition to give it a try.
My first attempts with the software were probably somewhere in the region of 80% accurate, which was extremely good for my first attempts. All I had to do for a start was about five minutes of training so the software could start recognising my dulcet tone’s.
I’ve had the software for about three weeks now and each time it learns from the words I speak. I would say that the accuracy level has gone up to be around 99% accurate. The odd time it gets it wrong is probably because I’ve mumbled which happens sometimes!!!
The speed of the typing is fantastic there is no way that I could type at the speed that this software does for me. I’m finding that the workload that I can get through has increased greatly and the spelling of the software is just simply fantastic, much better than mine even with spell check!
It’s not often I do this type of review but I felt this was so good and such a time saver that it had to be shared.

I’ve tried using Dragon 10 but I guess I wasn’t being patient enough. Did you do all the training exercise to make the software get used to your way of speaking?

No I didn’t do all of the training just 2 I think it was I got bored with them lol!
What I did was persevere as I used the product on the job.
It is worth going through the pain barrier with it believe me! Everytime you use it, learns but needs correcting less and less.
One way of doing this is to set up Dragon and read aloud from something that you want to read like someones latest blog posts for instance.
Stick with it !
I might do a quick video on this sometime soon thinking about it!
I’ll keep the name in mind next time I need that type of software. Also it’s not too pricey, either.
